Solo Exhibitions
The exhibition “Crossing the Lakshmana Rekha”, which travelled in 2015-2017 to Delhi, Goa and Hyderabad, questions the role of tradition and sexuality. It looks at the different aspects of sensuality and femininity from the female perspective to unseat the dominant male gaze. The works address and redefine issues around sexuality and the constraints women face in the 21st century.
“Pushing the creative envelope.”

Art Residencies
In 2018, Katharina organized her first art residency to explore new spaces and collaborate with artists and other creative people from different fields.
Disjoints & Dislocations | January 9-23, 2018
The first residency was held at the incredible Art Ichol, a creative escape near the city of Maihar, Madhya Pradesh. This residency was an opportunity for 7 female artists from various corners of the world to come together and discuss, question and reflect upon the topic of migration. Be it political or personal, local or international, each artist came with her own story and shared a collective experience throughout the two weeks. Accompanied by daily sessions in and out of the studio, the resulting impact came to be so much more than a culmination of artworks alone.
Disjoints & Dislocations | organized by Katharina Kakar and hosted by Ambica Beri. Participating artists: Ketna Patel, Megha Joshi, Karuna B. Sukka, Priyal Woodpecker, Sonja Coates, Julia Klemm and Katharina Kakar.
